The 29-year-old man's body was found in a ditch on Concession Road 4-5 in the old Maidstone Township, just before Christmas in 1977. He had been shot once in the chest.

DNA testing was not available in 1977. OPP Technical Investigators were converging on Concession 4-5 of Maidstone Township just south of County Road 46 to re-map the crime scene Tuesday.

Walstedt spoke of the history of Maidstone. Patrick McNiff, who in 1972, surveyed 9000 swamp-like acres in the area, which became Maidstone Township. 24 farms were developed, at 200 acres a piece.
