The National Medical Commission (NMC) has modified its logo by dropping the national emblem and including the photo of Dhanvantri, an avatar of Lord Vishnu known as the god of Ayurveda.
It was only around a year ago that the NMC, after taking suggestions, came up with the logo. The Dhanwantari logo was black and white for more than a year and we realised that we need to colour it.
The new logo of the NMC is in contradiction with our fundamental values as doctors. It is not in conformity with the oath and duty of doctors, which is not towards any particular religion.
