It's how you run Linux with direct integration into Windows. I got the Store version of WSL running on my Windows 10 desktop, but only after five restarts and quite a bit of support forum wandering.

Additionally, following customer requests, all Windows 10 users can now use Linux GUI apps after updating to the Microsoft Store version.

Microsoft has been very successful in achieving this goal. I predicted that 2020 would be the year of Linux on the Windows desktop. I was right. Today, millions of developers use WSL.
