But one of the most famous belongs to Lord Of The Rings, with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. This particular mismatched trio aren't the average set of travelling companions you'd normally come across.

The film follows our protagonists Frodo and Sam trekking to Mordor to destroy the One Ring while Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn search for the orc-captured Merry and Pippin.

Fans of the series will have to wait until December 17, however, to see if Sam, Legolas, Gandalf and Aragorn can overcome the evil forces of Mount Doom and save Middle Earth.
