SUGAR LAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Some disturbing allegations involving Sugar Land's Animal Services shelter came to light Friday after dozens of animals were improperly euthanized.

As the first land plants began to colonize the terrestrial environment, they provided food and shelter for animals that would follow, kick-starting the complex web of life on land.

The City of Sugar Land announced the firings in a statement on Friday after determining that at least 38 dogs and cats were improperly euthanized by Sugar Land’s Animal Services shelter.
