OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced that nearly two dozen lakes in Eastern Washington will open for trout fishing on March 1.

Lahanton cutthroat trout are a unique subspecies found in only a few waters in the Great Basin, such as Pyramid Lake. They are able to withstand water that is too alkaline for other trout species.
