A father of two was killed while skiing in Lake Tahoe’s mountainous backcountry on Monday, the sheriff’s office said. El Dorado County emergency dispatchers received a 911 call just after 4 p.m. on February 17 about a skier who was missing near Luther Pass.

On Friday at 7:24 a.m. the NWS Reno NV reported an avalanche warning in effect until 7 p.m. for Lake Tahoe. The NWS describes, "The avalanche danger remains HIGH in the backcountry through this evening."
