Gibson, 31, has spent his first 12 years in the league with Anaheim. He started 28 games, compared to 49 for Dostal, last season, and he's signed for two more at a salary cap hit of $6.4 million.

Gibson won 204 games while recording a .910 save percentage, 2.89 goals-against average and 24 shutouts. The trade prevented him from passing Jean-Sébastien Giguère’s franchise mark of 206 wins.

To Gibson’s credit, he is coming off of one of his better seasons in recent years by the numbers. He earned a 0.912 save percentage, his best since 2018-19, and saved 11.7 goals above expected.

Gibson — who has two more years on his contract, with a $6.4 million annual average value — is looking forward to showing the NHL he's still a premier goaltender.
