Last season, Embiid was limited to 39 games due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. In February 2024, the Sixers' big man underwent surgery and returned in early April for the team's playoff run. Embiid then won a gold medal with Team USA in the Paris Games.

Joel Embiid underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday, the Sixers announced. The team said Embiid’s surgery was performed by Jonathan L. Glashow at NYU Langone Sports Medicine Center. The seven-time All-Star will be re-evaluated in approximately six weeks.
