Wicked: For Good’ may have “some emotional complications and twists,” said Jeff Goldblum on the Oscars red carpet

The actor, who stars as the Wizard of Oz himself in the film franchise, told ABC’s On the Red Carpet promised that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will "further thrill you and chill you and devastate you" in the sequel, which is slated for November.

The show opened with a montage of films set in Los Angeles, a tribute to the city after wildfires ravaged the city in January. Then the stars of “Wicked” launched into a series of performances from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and the works it has inspired.

The Oscars are officially underway and, ahead of the ceremony, lots of major stars were seen on the red carpet including Wicked's Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Marissa Bode, along with Broadway alums Rachel Zegler,

The musical opener kicked off with "Over the Rainbow" before segueing to "Home" from "The Wiz," as well as "Defying Gravity."
