The distillery, which is located in the Japanese Alps near Mt. Kaikomagatake, produces fantastic whisky that is aged in a variety of casks, and much of it is peated.
Announced on August 7th, Yamazaki 25 Years Old Mizunara is The House of Suntory’s oldest 100% Mizunara-cask-aged Yamazaki.
Suntory, Japan's biggest and best-known whisky maker, recently invested 10 billion yen ($67 million) to upgrade its distilleries, including its Yamazaki site.
First, the water. Suntory built Japan's first commercial whisky distillery, which it called the Yamakazi distillery, in 1924, on the same location as the first Taian teahouse four centuries earlier.
