There are two kinds of snipe hunting. One, the kind that most people are familiar with, involves a ditch, a burlap sack, a dark night and an innocent victim.

Although determined birders can find snipe this time of year, in the Meadowlands their numbers are down considerably from what they were back in the 1800s, before snipe-hunting became a huge sport.
