By April 19, central soil in central Iowa could hit 65 degrees while northwestern Iowa will be in the low 70s. By April 25, temperatures could drop back down to the low 60s.
As of April 7, soil temperatures ranged from 46 degrees F in southern Iowa, to as low as 33 degrees F in the north. Daily fluctuations are common, especially in early spring.
Dickenson County had the coolest ground temperatures at 38 degrees on Wednesday. The Iowa State Mesonet forecasted soil temperatures to drop at the end of March again, especially in northern counties.
