The map was posted by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) on their X handle on Friday to show the range of Iranian missiles. The post quickly drew criticism from social media users in India.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, IDF International Spokesperson, acknowledged the error, stating that they "mistakenly used the wrong world map" while focusing on neutralising the nuclear threat.

About 90 minutes after the backlash began, the IDF issued a public apology for the incorrect depiction of India’s map. As of now, the Indian government has not issued an official response.
