Unlike traditional blimps, Sceye’s helium-filled vehicles are designed to hover at around 20 km above the Earth’s surface, delivering stable connectivity from the sky.
By the time the first blimp was retired in 1931, it had made 4,700 flights carrying over 5,300 people. Since then, many Goodyear blimps have come and gone as technology progressed.
Goodyear began making airships for the U.S. Navy in 1917, and its first blimp — the first commercial non-rigid airship flown using helium — launched years later, becoming a marketing tool.

The blimp’s basic technology hasn’t changed much over the years. Two balloons, or ballonets, inside the blimp are inflated with air and are surrounded by about 300,000 cubic feet of helium.
