But the tech giant has caused quite a stir this week, after replacing Calibri for the first time in 17 years. The new default font is Aptos - and the change hasn't gone down well with users.
If you do not like the appearance of these two fonts, you can easily switch back to Calibri or set an alternative. To do this, open a new document and make sure that you are in the “Start” ribbon.
Funnily enough, the State Department is taking the same step Microsoft did way back in 2007, when it also replaced Times New Roman with the then-new Calibri as the default font for documents.
“A false, fabricated trust deed dated February 2, 2006, in Calibri font was filed whereas no such font was available for such purposes … in that year,” read the charge-sheet.
Calibri replaced Times New Roman as Word's default typeface in 2007 and replaced Arial in Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint. Calibri became the default font in Office for Mac 2016.
