Alan Cumming will play Mr Ring-a-Ding, who is described as: a happy, funny, singalong cartoon, who lives in Sunny Town with his friend Sunshine Sally.

Coincidentally, they share two-word titles, each of which names and describes their main character: “Uncle Grandpa,” “Doctor Lollipop,” “King Douglas.” All have made me happy.

The actor previously appeared in the 2018 "Doctor Who" episode "The Witchfinders" as King James I. "Only Alan Cumming could give a runaway cartoon so much wit, malice, danger and fun.

Doctor Who will premiere its new season of eight episodes on April 12, with Alan Cumming guesting as an evil cartoon named Mr. Ring-a-Ding.

Bafta-winner Cumming will make his animated appearance in episode two as Mr Ring-a-Ding, a “happy, funny, singalong cartoon, who lives in Sunny Town with his friend Sunshine Sally”.
