Moose-call competitions are popular across North America. A contest at the annual moose festival in Colebrook, N.H., for example, has been running for more than 30 years.

Alaqsite'w Gitpu School in Listuguj, Que., held its first moose calling competition as part of the school’s Toqwa’q Culture Day. Toqwa’q means autumn in Mi’kmaw.
