Homeowners from any part of the city who suffered hail damage last year can get up to $3,000 from the city to put toward replacing their roof with more impact-resistant materials.

The city-run program was designed in the wake of the devastating June 2020 hailstorm, which caused upwards of $1.2 billion in insurable damage. Roofs account for as much as $800 million of that total.

“What I’m kind of discovering with this roof right now is it said there was 1.75-inch hail here. I’m not really seeing all the signs of that,” said Johnson.
