A controversial, AI-generated Guitar Hero advertisement was actually market research for a title that isn't in active development at the moment.

Original story follows. Activision announced over the weekend that Guitar Hero is returning after ten years with a new mobile game. However, the key art shared to Instagram was clearly made with AI.

And to make this even worse, the mockup for Guitar Hero Mobile seems to have been made with nothing but AI. The artwork for the game features some odd inconsistencies that are in line with AI art.

The Guitar Hero Mobile ad in particular seems to have truly upset players who have viewed it. Art for the game features four oddly shaped guitarists, each holding an even more oddly shaped red guitar.
