Perth V8 Supercar champion Garth Tander has called for emergency talks involving the State Government to try to save the local leg of the V8 Sueprcar's competition.

Tander posted a 1 minute 33.944 seconds early in the session while Lowndes was only around a tenth behind on his best. Commodores dominated the session with only two Fords in the top ten.
