Manru, an opera by Polish composer, pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941), was staged at the Opéra National de Lorraine in the eastern French city of Nancy on Tuesday.
It will be rebroadcast by France Musique on July 1 at 8 p.m. in the programme Samedi à l'Opéra. The work is sung in German, the original language of the opera.
The Summer Solstice of June 21 – the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere – also heralds France’s beloved music festival, the Fête de la Musique, which is marking its 44th year.
