An interventricular septal aneurysm is a ballooning of the interventricular septum. It is a rare condition — doctors associate it with 0.3% of congenital heart disease and 19% of VSDs.
Of these 6 had infarction of the interventricular septum, and 1 did not. Of 5 patients exhibiting the pattern of Roesler and Dressler, 1 recovered. Those who died all had involvement of the septum.
