In our tests, we found that creating an emoji of a gun was as simple as typing “gun” into the iPhone’s keyboard. The AI then spat out a carousel of pistols for us to choose from and share.

It’s complicated. While the iPhone XR and up can get the update to iOS 18.2, only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, as well as the iPhone 16 models can get the new AI features.

For example, this year’s new additions were part of iOS 18.4 — but it’s not always that late in the cycle. New emojis could possibly be added in iOS 26.1 or 26.2 before the year ends.
