The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer 400 permits for the taking of a maximum of 40 black bears during the 2023 Missouri black-bear hunting season this fall, October 16-25.
The DNR started a limited hunting season for bull elk in 2018 in the northern herd. In 2024 it was expanded to include the central herd. To encourage herd growth, all hunts have been for bulls only.
