Aug. 3 will mark one year since Ashley Dwight's now 18-year-old son, Davis, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during baseball practice. Thirteen minutes of CPR saved his life.
Dwight said their son only survived because his baseball coach knew CPR. In October 2022, they jumpstarted 13BEATS after their son got out of the hospital.
“It definitely takes us back to that day. It is a little PTSD,” Dwight said. “Our son is alive today because of that bystander CPR.” After the incident, 13Beats was created.
