The famous Dunluce Castle in Antrim, Northern Ireland, represents House of Greyjoy, ruler of the Iron Islands in the hit TV show. Here is what it looked like in its heyday circa 1500-1600.

The investigations at Dunluce are a significant opportunity to investigate an essentially intact early 17th century settlement, dating from a time of enormous transition and change in society.

Dunluce Castle was built in 1912 by Alexander McCully after he became minister at nearby St Jude’s Anglican Church. Its design is based on a wing of the historic Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland.
