A woman stepped into a storm drain missing its cover, on Sherbourne St., between The Esplanade and Lake Shore Blvd., and skinned both knees.
There are over 45,000 catch basins across Vancouver. Drainage can be particularly problematic for city workers in the fall, when fallen leaves clog up storm drains and cause flooding.
With street drains clogged all over the city following a big melt on the weekend, the emails were soon streaming in, but Anderson (AKA Drainman) was game to do his bit.
According to the city's Department of Public Works, as of July crews have cleaned 5,055 catch basins and flushed more than 7,000 linear feet of drain lines.
