The British family that has for decades held complete control over everything involving the globe-trotting superspy is relinquishing it to Amazon.

James Bond is in serious danger. According to Variety, the British spy franchise now lies in the hands of none other than Bezos, Jeff Bezos. For over four years, Amazon MGM Studios reportedly worked behind the scenes to gain creative control of the James Bond franchise.

James Bond feels like one of the last great film franchises. The eponymous hero may have appeared in different guises and faced all manner of strange villains, but at the core he’s still the same agent on Her Majesty’s Secret Service that appeared on the silver screen back in 1962.
