This 2.5-metre-tall statue of a soldier from the Second World War honouring the Royal Regina Rifles for their actions on D-day will be installed June 5 in Bretteville-sur-Mer, France.
On May 1, the statue will be flown to Normandy, France, and then ceremonially unveiled on June 5 in Bretteville-sur-Mer at la Place des Canadiens, where it will stand in honour of Canadian soldiers.
The statue will be flown to France later this spring. It will be officially unveiled at the 80th commemoration of D-Day on June 6 at Juno beach where it will be permanently installed.
