The storm will likely become a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) in the Gulf of Mexico and approach the Suncoast with the potential of a direct hit on Wednesday.

Tropical Depression 14 formed in the southwest Gulf on Saturday and is expected to rapidly intensify before impacting Florida’s west coast.TD 14 is forecast to become Milton and reach hurricane strength before reaching the Florida peninsula by midweek.

Tropical Depression 13 formed deep in the eastern Atlantic Ocean Wednesday afternoon and could reach hurricane strength by the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Its current model track takes it back out into the Central Atlantic, much like Hurricane Joyce, so the odds of it impacting us at all is slim as of our current predictions.

At 10 am Saturday, the National Hurricane Center released the initial advisory for a tropical depression. The tropical depression is 210 miles north-northeast of Veracruz Mexico and 350 miles west of Progreso Mexico, with maximum sustained wind of 35 mph. It’s moving 3 mph to the north-northeast. The tropical depression is forecast to strengthen.

A low-pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico now has a high chance of forming into a tropical depression within the week, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Tropical Storm Leslie formed in the tropical Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday evening and could become a Category 2 hurricane in the next three days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
