WhatsApp has started rolling out 3D avatars for its users around the globe that can be used as profile photos or custom stickers — months after their debut on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.

The avatar update will be available to users in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, who can show off their new 3D avatar on Facebook, Messenger, VR (via Quest), Instagram stories, and Instagram DMs.

For instance, earlier this year, it introduced support for 3D Avatars on Instagram. Today, we learned that Meta’s customizable avatars are coming to WhatsApp.

To check out your 3D emoji and add some new features, you’ll want to go to the Bitmoji avatar builder in Snapchat by tapping the Bitmoji icon in the top left corner of your Snap camera.

Apple is thought to be in the final stages of development for the 3D avatar app, and could potentially include the new service with the much-rumoured launch of the iOS 6 operating system in June.
