A new Commodore 64 is on the way that isn't just a mini retro console, and I'm starting to think my bed is a time machine.

A reimagined Commodore 64 is now available for preorder, offering nostalgia with updated specs and support for classic games.

The ZX Spectrum Next Issue 3 is here, bringing FPGA power, new cores, and C64 compatibility. It smashed Kickstarter in minutes and it’s not done yet.

According to Techspot, the remade Commodore 64 promises 99 percent software compatibility with its hardware emulation, which means you’ll be able to play more than 10,000 C64 games if desired.

It's not the first reissue of the Commodore 64, of course – that was TheC64 from Retro Games in 2022 – but it's from the all-new Commodore company. Hopefully that makes it as authentic as can be.

Compared to the more recent VIC-II Kawari, the HD-64 outputs in higher resolution, and it also includes audio on the HDMI connection—stereo, even, if you have a dual SID mod.
