Colman Domingo, a best actor nominee last year for Rustin and this year for Sing Sing, is the first person to earn best actor Oscar nominations in back-to-back years since Denzel Washington did so for Fences in 2017 and Roman J. Israel, Esq. in 2018.

West Philly’s Colman Domingo picked up his second Academy Award nomination Thursday for best actor, highlighting his haunting, yet hopeful portrayal of an incarcerated playwright in Sing Sing.

We are Philly Proud of the Oscar nomination for Colman Domingo. The Philly Native and Temple graduate is in the running for best actor for the second straight year. He was nominated for his role in "Rustin" last year and he has a chance to win this year after starring in "Sing Sing.
