Viola, an Asian elephant with the Jordan World Circus, still participated in two performances Tuesday after her time on the lam in the southwestern Montana city of about 35,000 people.

It costs about $65,000 yearly to care for each elephant, Feld said. Eleven elephants currently tour with the circus. "They'll be joining the rest of the herd," Feld said.

The elephant is part of the circus in Tupelo, Mississippi for a series of performances. The elephant was in an area outside where the circus keeps animals at the BancorpSouth Arena.
