Most people probably assume that members of the Royal Family spend Christmas in decadent surroundings, sitting on plush furniture, and eating expensive meals. However, one royal expert has suggested that some aspects of the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where the royals traditionally spend the holiday season, are a little antiquated.

The King and Queen are due to attend a Christmas Day church service in Sandringham alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales plus other royals. It was announced last week that the Duke of York would not attend the annual gathering after an alleged Chinese spy,

King Charles and Queen Camilla, who have made Christmas morning mass at Sandringham Church an annual tradition, were joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

It was no secret that Princess Diana detested the royal family’s annual Christmas celebrations at Sandringham, and a new program features royal biographer Ingrid Seward and longtime royal photographer Arthur Edwards revealing that Diana used to duck out of Sandringham as quickly as she could to get back to London.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly spent Christmas at their California home, absent from royal celebrations at Sandringham.
