The Centurion was a Gentile, and it was unbecoming to enter into a Gentile home. Yet not only does Jesus heal this man’s servant, but he was willing to enter the Gentile home.
It’s a newer translation that recalls us to a very old reality. When the Centurion sees Jesus coming, he goes out to meet him and asks him to heal his servant.
The Roman soldier was a centurion. He was in charge of a hundred other soldiers. The centurion was worried his servant would die and asked Jesus to just say the word and his servant would be healed.
