BANFF — A man is facing up to $75,000 in fines and a year in jail after he was caught in the thermal pool at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site — home to the endangered Banff Springs Snail.

It’s home to jaw-dropping caves and of course, a thermal pool that’s all the rave with temperatures of about 27 degrees all year round. Aussies are losing it over this thermal pool in NSW.

He was fined $4,500. Bailey Thomas Townsend, 27, admitted to swimming in the thermal pool in Banff National Park on Nov. 26, 2014. “It is was it is,” he said outside court after the hearing.
