A record-setting carbon recapture facility is planned for a North Dakota coal-burning plant. Carbon recapture is a huge and growing interest, with two existing large facilities at other coal plants.

On May 30, the DOE announced it had canceled $3.7 billion in grant awards for primarily carbon capture projects, including Calpine's Sutter County plant and a slightly larger plant at Baytown, Texas.
