TORONTO - Canada Post has told its carriers to stop raising the flag on mailboxes to indicate they've delivered mail.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threat against Canada has sent sales of Canadian flags soaring. “I would say 50 per cent,” said Murray Jefferies of Flying Colours International in Toronto.

In her years working for The Flag Store, she said March always meant the beginning of the busy season. But Canada 150 she said, has created demand the store isn't normally accustomed to.

Canada observed Flag Day on Feb. 15, celebrating the moment in January, 1965 when Queen Elizabeth signed the royal proclamation formally adopting the new flag. The flag was controversial at first.
