Other schools, including Simon Fraser University (SFU) in British Columbia and Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, are also empowering students to guide the design of new campus spaces.

Architecture firms Browning Day, Ratio Design and Yard & Co. provided designs for the more than 80-acre property.

Even in this digital age, when ­university life can be virtual and distributed, the university community continues to value the mutuality of being on campus, with others, in real space and time.

The innovative campus design of the boarding school, completed in May 2022, won World Building of the Year 2023 at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore this month.
