The most expensive California ZIP code was 93920, an area much better known as Big Sur. A single square foot in the pricey, secluded area of coastline would set you back $4,257.

The median home price for the 100 most expensive ZIP codes was $2,749,500 in 2022, an increase of 11.03% from last year, according to the study.

The study, which analyzed all residential sales during the pandemic between March 13 and Sept. 7, found that California holds 87 of the 130 priciest ZIP Codes in the country, or about 67%.
