In the planning stages for nearly 15 years, the first public bus from St. George to Zion National Park departed Friday morning. Other than Sundays, it will operate for the foreseeable future.

All told, Zion’s electric fleet consists of five 40-foot buses that shuttle visitors between Springdale and the park and 25 accordion-type, 60-foot buses that operate inside the park.
