According to mcbroken.com, a website featuring a map that tracks all the ice cream machines not working at around 10,000 different US McDonald's restaurants, almost 15% are currently broken.

Johnny Harris, a producer, made a 30-minute documentary, The Real Reason McDonalds Ice Cream Machines Are Always Broken, about this phenomenon in 2021 that has over 13 million views on the platform.
