More "roost rings" on radar this morning. NWS radar actually "seeing" birds taking off from their roosting places this morning at sunrise (~6:30 AM).

Roost rings are commonly seen late in the summer when communal bird species gather ahead of a fall migration. The rings take on an expanding doughnut or arc shape on the radar.

Migratory birds are often detected by National Weather Service Doppler radar in unique doughnut patterns known as “roost rings.” Bugs and bats can also be detected.
