Austin remembers the 1911 flood, the second-worst dam disaster in Pennsylvania, with three days of programs and events recalling its darkest days but also celebrating its survival.
Austin Dam This dam is located in Potter County. Back in 1911, the dam failed, causing water to flood places downstream and killing 78 people. The dam was rebuilt in 1942 but failed once again.
It is along Route 872, about a mile north of Austin in north central Pennsylvania. Austin Dam certainly rivals many established historic sites in the state.
Shae Ebner was found dead at Austin Dam Memorial Park in Potter County around 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The cause of death was not disclosed. Troopers said he died sometime on Friday or Saturday.
