A flood watch covers much of the state and remains in effect through 8 p.m. Tuesday. A flood warning is also in place for the Ocmulgee River near Macon until Friday.

In Atlanta, the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and highs near 89 degrees Wednesday, climbing to 93 by Independence Day. Nighttime temperatures are expected to stay in the low 70s.
