Atari have revealed their new home games console – the company’s first in 24 years. The Ataribox was teased as part of last month’s E3 festival, but few details were shared at the time.

Atari's first home console, the 2600, was released in 1977 to rave reviews. The firm then released a series of consoles, up until the Jaguar in 1993, at which point it was overtaken by competitors ...

However, it’s made for modern-day gaming and home entertainment. This console comes packed with over 100 video game titles mainly arcade classics and home Atari video game releases.

Of course, the first games console publicly available launched back in 1977. However, the Atari name has been far succeeded by the likes of Microsoft and Sony with XBOX and PlayStation and Nintendo.

Given Atari’s current status, I find a emulator/retro game console more likely than a brand new device designed to run new games. But you never know.
