UK’s Dreadnought-Class SSBN: The Future of Royal Navy’s Nuclear Deterrence The British government is committed to revitalizing the ancient mystique and glory of the Royal Navy.
The Dreadnought-class SSBN is believed to cost Britain’s MOD the equivalent of $39.9 billion. The costs include the design, construction, and testing of these new boats.
Dreadnought was armored on roughly the same scale as the Lord Nelson class, the final pre-dreadnoughts constructed by the Royal Navy. Dreadnought became Fisher’s political cause.
The Dreadnought submarines will be in a different class to anything used before by the Royal Navy. As well as being the biggest, they also have been designed to boast a number of new features.
