A new Master Combat Badge is being rolled out for combat veterans who also have earned skills-related honors, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael R. Weimer said.

Of the ACC recipients, 16 qualified for the MCIB, 3 Soldiers were awarded the Master Combat Action Badge (MCAB) and 1 was awarded the Master Combat Medical Badge (MCMB).

Soldiers are expected to be able to purchase the Army’s new Master Combat Badges at Army and Air Force Exchange Service, or AAFES, outlets around Friday, said Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Ruth Castro.

Only 7% to 27% of contestants earn the badge. Medical personnel, combat medics, nurses and doctors are all eligible. The low pass rate stems from the multifaceted challenges it presents.
